Sunia Vola

Having studied Information Technology at Fiji National University, Sunia Vola has a reputation for bringing a disciplined and thoughtful approach to his game. Vola has superb rugby pedigree and established a name for himself when he turned out for his country at two consecutive World Rugby U20 Championships. A rare feat for a front ranker, it was the 2013 tournament that saw the incredibly powerful loosehead grab the attention of foreign clubs, as he held his own against more experienced tightheads from Australia and New Zealand. After a short spell at Auray, it was Vannes who secured his coveted signature and the dynamic ball-carrier played a crucial role in the club’s promotion to Pro D2.
Vola thrived in the intensity of the higher division and showed a versatility that convinced his coaching staff to start Sunia in the technically challenging tighthead position when the team required reinforcements. Four seasons in Vannes left the destructive Vola seeking a new challenge, and when the opportunity for consistent game time became available at Oloron, he rose to the occasion and started 12 of the first 13 games of the 2019/20 season. With many years ahead of him, Sunia Vola has since taken his superb athleticism to the Nationale division by signing with the Stade Niçois in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France.
