Rhema Sagote

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand; Rhema Sagote is the quintessentially destructive midfielder that every squad needs in the modern game. With that said, Sagote is so much more than a battering ram; he’s an all-round attacking force with an impressive skillset and ability to win turnovers at the breakdown. Having first caught the eye as a 22-year-old centre for Auckland University, Rhema was scouted by the coaching staff of Wanganui in the Hartland Championship. The young Samoan had also featured in the Auckland Development Squad and earned an international debut against Fiji at the 2016 Americas Pacific Challenge.
Destined for higher honours, he climbed the ranks to join North Harbour in the Mitre 10 Cup, where his ability to offload in contact and run superb diagonal lines produced many a line-break at crucial stages. Able to run over opponents with ease, it was Sagote’s intelligent aptitude of providing scoring opportunities to his outside backs with slick handling that saw him sign with Pro D2’s Aurillac. Now an established starter, his talent for straightening the line and drawing the attention of loose forwards creates countless overlap opportunities.
