Oliver Butler

A dual French & English qualified player, Oliver Butler attended the prestigious RGS High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire; going on to captain the 1st XV and represent London Wasps in the U18 Aviva Premiership. He went on to join the ambitious Bedford Blues U19 squad, before making the short journey over the English Channel to sign with La Rochelle. A regular in the Top 14 side’s Espoir squad, Butler spent two seasons at the Stade Marcel-Deflandre before joining another top-flight club in Agen.
The incredibly powerful front ranker trained with the senior squad and was rewarded with a European Challenge Cup call-up against a strong Gloucester team. Oliver’s leadership made him a prime candidate to take up the Espoir captaincy at Pro D2’s Vannes, where his willingness to look for work became a hallmark of his game. Butler’s ability to engage in close combat impressed the coaching staff of RC Aubenas, and they offered the young man his first senior contract. Disciplined, attentive and difficult to stop at full flight, Oliver Butler is a young prop who offers tremendous value to any squad.
