Nate Augspurger

Nate Augspurger
Biography

A Collegiate All American at the University of Minnesota, Nate Augspurger earned a residency contract at the US Olympic Training Centre in 2012. A veteran of numerous HSBC Sevens Series campaigns, 2016 saw Augspurger make his XV test debut for the USA Eagles against Italy. Ever the versatile athlete, he once again joined the US Sevens team at the Rio Olympics before committing his future to fifteens.

His decision proved fruitful, as the sniping scrumhalf captained the US to back-to-back America Rugby Championship wins in 2017 & 2018. Nate’s leadership and pinpoint box-kicks proved invaluable to the San Diego Legion’s inaugural MLR campaign, but it’s at the highest level that he truly shines. Augspurger’s pace and defensive grit saw him selected on the wing against Samoa, before returning to halfback at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. The speed & intelligent width of his passing is a highlight of Nate’s game; enabling his outside backs to stretch the most structured of defensive lines.
