Mlungisi Khalishwayo

Mlungisi Khalishwayo
Biography

Having first represented his province at the U13 Craven Week, Mlungisi Khalishwayo went on to attend Westville Boys High School, one of the most prominent rugby institutions in the Sharks region. Khalishwayo quickly established himself as a leading light, breaking tackles at will and running superb diagonal lines that thwarted many a defensive structure. Already blessed with searing raw pace, it was Mlu’s dedication to his conditioning that transformed the ‘hot stepper’ into a physical presence to be reckoned with. His powerful leg drive and intimidating tackling technique came to the fore in the shorter version of the game, and he thrived in Sharks colours at the National U17 Sevens tournament of 2019.

Renowned for his ability to perform under pressure, Khalishwayo’s pedigree comes as no surprise, given his jaw-dropping CV. A standout for the Natal Sharks at the U16 Grant Khomo Week, he repeated the feat at the U18 Academy Week of the following year and was set to shine at the U18 Craven Week of 2020, before its unfortunate cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite this obvious disappointment, seasoned pundits have already deemed Mlungisi Khalishwayo to be a player destined for senior professional honours.
