Lubelo Scott

A young athletic prodigy at Excelsior Primary School in Bellville, Lubelo Scott first represented his province at the U13 Craven Week. A distinguished sprinter, he earned a scholarship to the prestigious Diocesan College, commonly known as Bishops. Scott thrived in the superb facilities on offer, going on to once again represented Western Province at the U16 Grant Khomo Week of 2014. An intelligent midfielder with an eye for the outside gap, Lubelo found himself on the SARU radar for his Sevens ability after dazzling onlookers at an U17 Interprovincial Sevens tournament, whilst also turning out at the U18 Academy Week.
A powerful ball-carrier with a low centre of gravity, Scott shone on the national stage at the U18 Craven Week of the following year, leading WP to offer him a junior provincial contract that meant he would remain in the Western Cape. The intensity of the U19 and U21 Currie Cup did not faze him, and Lubelo continued to employ dazzling running lines and intelligent diagonal cutbacks, making him a nightmare for opposition defences. Courted by some of South Africa’s most successful universities, he chose rather to help the University of the Western Cape gain promotion to the Varsity Cup through countless x-factor performances.
