A product of St. Albans College, Kurt Haupt remained in South Africa’s capital to attend the prolific University of Pretoria. He formed part of a powerhouse Tuks team in numerous Varsity Cup campaigns, going on to earn selection for the Blue Bulls Vodacom Cup & U21 Currie Cup squads. A move to the SWD Eagles saw Haupt enjoy consistent Currie Cup game time, and his dependable lineout throwing impressed coaching staff at the Southern Kings.
A Super Rugby debut followed, and Haupt thrived in the intensity of the southern hemisphere showpiece, drawing the attention of the Worcester Warriors. Initially joining the Premiership club on a short-term basis, his dynamic work rate and mobility led the Warriors to extend his stay in the West Midlands. Haupt’s aspirations extended to the international stage though, and his German heritage saw him turn out for the emerging European power during their inspired Rugby World Cup 2019 qualifying campaign. Immensely experienced and now in the prime of a front ranker’s career, Kurt’s move to Aubenas has seen him become an established starter in France’s combative Fédérale 1.
