Born in Port Elizabeth, Kevin Luiters attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, where he thrived in the intensity and expectation of arguably South Africa’s biggest rugby school. Having represented the South African U18 Schools team in 2010, Luiters remained in the Free State and made his U19 Currie Cup debut whilst still a schoolboy, going on to enjoy a senior professional debut in the Vodacom Cup at only 18 years old. Blessed with searing pace and gutsy defence, Luiters enjoyed a stint with the South African Sevens squad in 2012, but his superb ability to snipe around the fringes made him naturally suited to fifteens.
Quick to the breakdown and cool under pressure, Kevin’s quick service was a perfect fit for the pace of Super Rugby, and his 2016 debut against the Chiefs was a career highlight. Spells in the Currie Cup with the Pumas and Romania’s Timisoara Saracens saw Luiters emerge as an experienced leader, despite only being in his mid-twenties. Returning to his hometown, Kevin took a break from the game to grow his personal training business, but his pedigree saw Luiters called up to the Eastern Province Currie Cup squad in 2019, where he once again marshalled a young pack of forwards and kept opposition defences guessing.
