Jaryd Scheepers

Jaryd Scheepers
Biography

A product of Hoërskool Garsfontein in the suburbs of Pretoria, Jaryd Scheepers first represented his province as a 16-year-old at the U18 Academy Week of 2018, before repeating the feat the following year at the U18 Craven Week. Scheepers impressed pundits and onlookers alike with his work rate, defensive intelligence, and incredible speed off the mark. Initially utilized as an abrasive second row, Scheepers has also thrived at the base of the scrum, where his ball-handling and skillset sees him play in the Pierre Spies mould.

An accomplished set piece proponent who has earned a reputation for stealing opposition ball at the lineout, Jaryd’s strength in contact is even more impressive when considering that he is still so young, with countless years ahead of him. Whether enjoying the close combat of the tight exchanges or crashing over the advantage line from midfield, Scheepers provides the x-factor that can instantly break open a close match. He enjoyed a stint with the Melbourne Storm in Australia’s National Rugby League, before returning home to enrol at the University of Pretoria. Versatile, athletic, and physically gifted, Jaryd Scheepers is a competitor who has all the attributes to play at the highest level of the game.
