Eroni Tuwai

A product of Korolevu on Fiji’s Coral Coast, Eroni Tuwai first started showing promise as a young rugby league player in the colours of the Coastline Roos. After impressing at a trial spell with Australia’s Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL, Tuwai moved to France where he signed with Bordeaux-Bègles as a 20-year-old. An incredibly powerful outside back, Eroni spent two seasons at Bordeaux, before grabbing the attention of Aurillac’s ambitious coaching staff.
Recognizing his ability to bump off defenders at will, they closely watched his progress as an Espoir, before rewarding the winger’s tenacity with a callup to the senior Pro D2 squad in October 2018. His debut against Biarritz was capped off with a try that proved to be the difference in a 28-24 victory on opposition soil. Equally comfortable in the number 11 or 14 jersey, the 24-year-old is blessed with quintessentially Fijian flair and often looks for an offload to put his teammates away for a try. With pace, power and a JIFF player who has acclimatised superbly to the European game, Eroni Tuwai provides tremendous value to any squad.
