Eduard Bezuidenhout

Eduard Bezuidenhout
Biography

Yet another product of Paarl Gimnasium, Eduard Bezuidenhout attended the Sharks Academy after completing his schooling, spending six months at the well-respected institution. Though his time in Durban was shorted lived, the guidance of senior professional coaches inspired Eduard to embrace a disciplined conditioning programme, leading him to study Personal Fitness at South Africa’s ETA College. Blessed with raw power and technical maturity, Bezuidenhout tested his mettle against seasoned scrummagers in Italy’s Serie B, rapidly rising to anchor the set piece in Borsari Rugby Badia’s 1st XV.

It soon became clear that Ed was destined for higher honours, and he duly joined CA Périgueux as an Espoir, before earning a call-up to the senior Fédérale 1 team. The youngster’s performances drew the attention of Top 14 giants, Section Paloise, and It was at Pau that gave onlookers a glimpse of Eduard’s potential, particularly his speed in open play and ability to fend off multiple opponents when ball-carrying. The mobile front ranker returned to Fédérale 1 in the colours of Aubenas, where he made the number three jersey his own. Ever the modern-day prop, Eduard’s move to Lavaur saw him also slot in at Loosehead Prop when called upon, but its as a tighthead where Bezuidenhout’s imposing frame is most destructive.
