Earll Douwrie

Born and raised in the small town of Caledon, Earll Douwrie attended Hoerskool Overberg, before moving to a larger rugby institution, HTS Drostdy. Blessed with an enviable turn of pace, Douwrie was first selected for the Boland Kavaliers at the U18 Craven Week of 2014, donning the number 14 jersey. Aside from his speed, Earll’s balanced running style and ability to find space in the backfield made him the perfect candidate for the fullback berth. Douwrie was a revelation for his new school, weaving through defensive lines and once again turning out at the U18 Craven Week, later that year.
By this stage of his young career, Earll had already caught the eye of the Blue Bulls, who signed him to a junior provincial contract and enrolled him at Hoerskool Garsfontein to complete his schooling. Whilst still a schoolboy, Douwrie became a standout performer in the U19 Currie Cup, taking up the mantle of goalkicker and earning a senior professional debut in the Supersport Rugby Challenge whilst still only 19 years of age. Within a year, Earll made the number 15 jersey his own, starting in all seven outings and contributing an average of 11 points per game. After winning the Blue Bulls Supersport Challenge Player of the Year, he took up an opportunity to join Russia’s Enisei and stamped his authority on the 2019 European Rugby Challenge.
