Didier Tison

Didier Tison
Biography

Born in Springs, just outside of Johannesburg, Didier Tison grew up in the Eastern Cape and went on to represent the EP Kings in the U19 Currie Cup of 2012. With his French heritage and admirable work rate, the back rower grabbed an opportunity to show his worth at LOU in 2013. A senior debut followed against Edinburgh in the European Rugby Challenge Cup, where he soon established himself as a starting No. 8. With speed to burn, he also turned out on the wing before taking his rightful place at the base of the scrum.

Tison’s ability to pilfer proved invaluable and led coaches to move him to openside flank, when required. It came as no surprise when Carcassone aggressively recruited Didier, and he went on to start eighteen of 28 matches in the 2017/18 season. When the powerful Oyonnax returned to Pro D2 in 2018, they made it a priority to bring the versatile Tison to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. His aggressive ball-carrying ability came to the fore and he was often asked to fulfil the destructive role of blindside flank; a setting in which he thrived. Currently at the peak of his powers and with intelligence to match, this dual national has the talent to ensure his team enjoys valuable running yards and turnovers for years to come.
