Conor-Terrah Brockschmidt

A product of rugby powerhouse KES (King Edward VII School) in Johannesburg, Conor-Terah Brockschmidt’s leadership credentials first became apparent as the captain of the Golden Lions team at the U18 Academy Week in 2012. A second rower with stoic discipline and maturity, his superb physical strength saw Brockschmidt join the Border Bulldogs for their U19 Currie Cup campaign of 2013, earning Player of the Year in the process. A strong academic, Conor returned to Johannesburg to enrol at Wits University, where he immediately made an impact. With maturity came the added ability to break numerous tackles in contact, convincing coaches that Brockschmidt was perfectly suited to the role of barnstorming blindside flanker, whilst also donning the captain’s proverbial armband.
Ever the student-athlete, Conor once again earned provincial plaudits through his selection to the Golden Lions Amateur XV, this time slotting in as a pilfering openside. With considerable bulk and the added component of lineout jumper, Conor formed part of the Golden Lions Supersport Challenge team in 2018, his senior professional debut coming against the Blue Bulls. Putting his EU Passport to good use, Brockschmidt sought the challenging climate of Belfast’s club ranks, where he once again stands out as a player destined for higher honours.
