Christian Ostberg

Christian Ostberg
Biography

A product of Stony Point High School in Texas, Christian Ostberg first represented his country as part of the USA Rugby High School All-American team in 2011. A powerful offensive lineman on his school’s Gridiron team, it took only a year for Ostberg to earn selection for the USA U20 team, where he played primarily in the second row. A year spent in Italy’s Serie B and England’s National League 2 was enough to convince onlookers that Christian belonged at a higher level, leading Aurillac to sign the destructive ball-carrier in the 2015/16 season.

Coaches in his homeland took notice as well, and Christian won his first cap for the USA Selects XV in the 2016 Americas Pacific Challenge. Imposing and aggressive, Ostberg has a reputation for maintaining his discipline amidst the confrontational Pro D2 league, where he’s known to put his head down and get to work. Since establishing himself in France, Ostberg has thrived as a back rower, enjoying the freedom to not only be a lineout option, but also take on numerous defenders as a bone-crushing blindside flank.
