Njabulo Gumede

Njabulo Gumede
Biography

Having attended Maritzburg College in KwaZulu-Natal, it was clear from a young age that Njabulo Gumede had superb rugby pedigree. He represented the Sharks at every age-group level, and it wasn’t long before the Blue Bulls took notice. His versatility at Hooker or Loose Head Prop was integral to their successful U19 Currie Cup of 2014, and selection for the South African U20 team soon followed.

Bulls coaches recognized that Gumede was comfortable mixing it up with senior Currie Cup players and his physical approach to the game led to a Guinness Pro 14 loan spell at the Southern Kings in 2017. With many years ahead of him in the front row, Njabulo moved to the Valke in 2018 to enjoy consistent game time in both the Supersport Rugby Challenge and the Currie Cup 1st Division competitions.
