Anthony Johnson was born and educated in Cape Town. He matriculated from Wynberg Boys High School in 1997.
A keen sportsman himself, Anthony participated in many sports as a youngster and represented Western Province at Volleyball in the u18, u19 and u21 age groups. These days you’ll find him pounding the pavement early in the morning or late at night.
After school, Anthony studied Personal Training at the Exercise Teachers Academy. While working as a personal trainer, Anthony became very interested in sports nutrition, and, after furthering his studies, became the agent for a sports nutrition company called Biomax.
Thereafter he purchased a sports supplement company called Performax, and subsequently opened a chain of supplement stores called Homeostasis.
In 2003, Anthony met the owner of a sports agency called Tau Sports & Media. Initially he assisted the agency’s clients with their training and nutrition, but it wasn’t long before he had joined the agency and was helping them manage their clients.
In less than two years Anthony more than doubled their client base. Looking for growth within the industry, Anthony approached an agency called World Artists, a leading rugby agency at the time.
He started working at World Artists in September 2005 and remained with the company until June 2016. During his time there, Anthony progressed from client manager to Managing Director of the South African business.
In July 2016 Anthony started Le Cap Sports. It didn’t take long for his previous clients at World Artists to follow him on his new venture. Anthony was accredited by the English Rugby Football Union (RFU) in 2018 as an agent. He is actively developing and broadening the reach of Le Cap Sports on a daily basis.
Anthony has developed a great network of contacts throughout the world of Rugby Union and has been involved in the management of some of its biggest players.
